Your donation to Challenge Aspen supports adaptive recreation that transforms, inspires, and builds community. Now entering its 29th year, Challenge Aspen provides year-round opportunities for people with disabilities, including outdoor activities, camps, and veteran’s programs.

Sponsors provide critical funding to uphold the quality of Challenge Aspen’s programs and provide access without limits. Host a community fundraiser

The Challenge Aspen Community is incredibly generous and dedicated to serving our mission. We’ve had community members host restaurant takeovers, trunk shows, and even climb Mount Denali, the tallest mountain in the US, all to make an impact on our participants’ lives. You can make a difference by hosting an event at your home or club, in your store or restaurant, or online. The possibilities to help are endless.

Gifts of Stock & Donor Advised Funds

Stock Donations: Donating stocks to Challenge Aspen is easy. When you donate through stocks, you receive gift credit and an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the transfer date, no matter what you originally paid for them. You pay no capital gains tax on the securities you donate. 

Gifts of stock to Challenge Aspen are handled by Jenni Peterson, Challenge Aspen’s Chief Financial Officer, jenni@challengeaspen.org, or (970) 923-0578. You or your broker can contact Jenni directly to process the transaction. 

Donor Advised Funds: You may select Challenge Aspen as a beneficiary of your donor advised fund. Please look Challenge Aspen via Tax ID #84-1315910.  We are listed with most major brokerages. 

Please consult your broker or accountant for guidance with maximizing your tax-savings through a gift of stock. This information is not intended to serve as tax or legal advice.

Matching Gifts

Did you know that many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees? 

To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your company’s human resource representative. If we’re a match, provide them with Challenge Aspen’s federal tax ID #84-1315910.

Donate Your Tax Return

Coloradans can give all or part of their state income tax refund to the Challenge Aspen to help continue our mission and vision. ReFUND CO allows you to be in charge of where your donation goes, just by simply following these steps: 

  • Decide how much of your refund you want to donate. 
  • Enter Challenge Aspen and our registration number 20023003510 in the Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund line on your state income tax return or software. You can also give this information to your tax preparer when you share your tax documents.

Donate Items on Behalf of Challenge Aspen

Donate your car: Donating your car to Challenge Aspen is quick, easy, and tax deductible. Follow this link to Challenge Aspen’s CARS (https://careasy.org/nonprofit/challenge-aspen) account or call 855-500-7433 to learn more.  

Donate outdoor gear or used goods: The best way to put your used goods to good use is to donate them at one of the many resale or consignment shops throughout the valley. If you have adaptive gear less than 5 years old or items with a value greater than $250 you may donate those at the Challenge Aspen office Mon-Fri, between the hours of 9am-4pm. If you have questions, call the office at (970) 923-0578.

Connect your City Market Card  

City Market is committed to helping our communities grow and prosper, and you can raise money for adaptive recreation through their City Market Community Rewards Program simply by choosing Challenge Aspen in your City Market account. Here’s how it works: 

  • Head to City Market Community Rewards to create an account and enroll. 
  • Once logged in, click on the Community Rewards link on the left-hand side. From there, you can choose to benefit Challenge Aspen whenever you shop at City Market. Exclusions include alcohol, tobacco, and postage.
